ST 163 – Unravelling stent – knitting development

The project is a Smart Textiles-funded international R&D collaboration, aiming to develop a novel knitting machine to produce multiple knitted stents made from nitinol wire. Knitted stents can easily be removed from patients by unravelling, thereby avoiding side effects caused by the permanent stents of today. The product is patented and unique in its production design and medical potential. The Swedish project collaborator is the medtech startup company GraftCraft AB.
