Three cardiovascular problems solved using mathematics and knitting

On February 26, Torbjörn Lundh will explain how mathematics can be useful in medical collaborations between different scientific disciplines.

He will do this by presenting three textile projects that he has developed in collaboration with vascular surgeon Erney Mattsson and Smart Textiles. They are: ‘Unravelling Stent’ – a knitted stent that can be unravelled when it has performed its task; ‘PressCise’ – a bandage that helps users to wrap with a constant pressure; and ‘’ – a textile blood vessel. During the seminar, Torbjörn will explain how mathematics can be used in a range of unexpected ways in interdisciplinary collaborations. Torbjörn Lundh is a professor of mathematics at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology. The seminar has been arranged by MedTech West, and will be held at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg.
