A total of 1.5 million SEK in project grants is available to apply for by researchers and companies. The call is made within the framework of the international network CrossTexNet, an endeavour to stimulate collaborative projects involving technical textiles.
The call may be answered by researchers and companies from Västra Götaland and extends to all forms of research involving refined textiles and fibre-based materials. Projects may for example involve development of new materials and textiles for new applications or development of advanced technology for production and finishing of textiles. The projects are to be carried out as international collaborations between regions and countries participating in the CrossTexNet and one requirement is that at least two SMEs from at least two countries participate in the project.
The organisations behind this call is Region Västra Götaland and Smart Textiles in Borås. The call is made within the framework of the EU project CrossTexNet, which is a network consisting of seventeen European regions and countries, from Västra Götaland in the north to Turkey in the south. The purpose of CrossTexNet is to coordinate and increase the efficiency of European textile research and provide the industry with access to smarter and more efficient funding of research projects.
The same funding rules apply as for the R&D Card of Region Västra Götaland. This means at least one company and one research provider from Västra Götaland and that CrossTexNet will cover the expenses of the research provider. The company must make an investment, either in money or hours worked, corresponding to the amount applied for.
Applications are submitted through the CrossTexNet webpage. The webpage also has more information about the call and the regions participating in the CrossTexNet network. The call is open for answers until the 31st of May 2011. This is the second of a total of four CrossTexNet calls planned between 2010-2012.
