Sock with heating element released on the market

Another of Smart Textiles’ projects has been released on the market. The companies Inuheat and Seger have together created an outdoor sock and an alpine sock, both of which integrate heating elements that make it possible to keep warm in cold weather. Information about heat and battery levels can be accessed using an app on the wearer’s smartphone, which also works as a remote control. In this way, it is possible to both regulate heat and set the duration of the heating.

A great deal of the body’s heat is lost through the feet, hands and head. By wearing the heating sock to keep the feet warm when the weather is cold, it is possible to avoid frostnip and extend the time the wearer can stay outdoors.
