The evaluation was conducted by VINNOVA and four international representatives: Lutz Walter from Euratex, Sarah Kettley from Nottingham Trent University, Lisa de Propris from the University of Birmingham, and Ifor Ffowcs-Williams, CEO, Cluster Navigators Limited. The day began with a presentation of Smart Textiles operations followed by presentations and discussions with partners from various sectors tied to the textile cluster. Lutz Walter gave honors around the unique triple helix cooperation which exists in the region around textile innovations.
– There is nothing alike Smart Textiles. Not in Europe and not what we know. Never before have we seen such a dedicated and committed academia, industry, healthcare, city and a region which all see a huge matter of course and strength in what is done, Lutz Walter, Euratex.
With over 60 products, 200 prototypes, nearly 50 start-ups and 250 Business Innovation Projects, Smart Textiles have an exciting time ahead. To quote the Director Susanne Nejderås; 2020 is not the end; it’s the start of the next level.
