In order to present the research carried out in the labs at Smart Textiles – but also to spark interest and inspire – the collection “Glimpses” is put together. It will contain materials and experimental prototypes and become part of the Textile Material Library at the Swedish School of Textiles.
– Professional designers, students and companies will be able to see parts of the research Smart Textiles conducts, says Josefin Damm, who coordinates “Glimpses”.

There are already materials and prototypes in the Textile Material Library which originate from on-going research at Smart Textiles. An effort is currently under way to collect and present this material under the working title “Glimpses”.
– Some materials will for example be available by the metre and usable in workshops held by design departments.

It’s hoped that this will in turn lead to further material development and innovations and also to an intensification of the collaborations between the business community and academia, as they will gain better insight into research, Josefin Damm says.
The idea is for the collection to remain in a state of constant change and regularly added to.  In the autumn of 2012, the materials and prototypes will be presented at the Smart Textiles web site.
