On the 15th of October 2012, the fourth call for international collaborative projects invovling technical textiles and new processes was made by CROSSTEXNET. Around 1.5 million SEK in funding is available to apply for by Swedish companies that want to carry out research and development projects (R&D projects) in collaboration with researchers. That is, R&D projects involving refined textiles, fibre-based materials and new processes.

Who is eligible to apply?

Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), who apply for and coordinate the projects in collaboration with researchers employed by universities or research institutions.

What is an eligible research topic?

Projects may involve for example development of new materials and textiles for new applications, developing advanced technology for production and finishing of textiles or new, environmentally friendly processes.

International collaborations

The projects are to be carried out as international collaborations between regions and countries participating in the CrossTexNet. At least two countries/regions participating in this call must be represented. There is no maximum number of participating countries/regions.

Who organises/funds?

This call is funded by the Region Västra Götaland together with Smart Textiles in Borås within the framework of the EU project CrossTexNet, which is a network of seventeen European regions and countries. The purpose of CrossTexNet is to coordinate and increase the efficiency of European textile research and provide the industry with access to smarter and more efficient funding of research projects.

Funding rules

The same funding rules apply as for the R&D Card of Region Västra Götaland. This means an SME from Västra Götaland is able to apply for funding to employ a research provider (a research institute, university or organisation of similar capacities) that will, together with the company, carry out the research project. The company must make an investment, either in money or working time, corresponding to the amount applied for.

The call opens for applications on the 10th of January 2012 and applications are submitted directly on the Crosstexnet webpage. The webapge also has more information on the call, funding rules and the regions participating in the CrossTexNet network.
